A cooperative project of Friends of Gumbo Limbo, the City of Boca Raton, Florida Atlantic University, and the Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District that was visited by more than 200,000 people in 2018, Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is one of Boca Raton’s prominent outdoor attractions.

Focused on sea turtle conservation, Gumbo Limbo monitors more than 800 nests annually and rescues and rehabilitates injured and sick sea turtles. Additionally, it releases in excess of 9,000 stranded sea turtle hatchlings per nesting season. Its nature preservation efforts also include school programs designed to meet National Core Standard and Science Next Generation Sunshine State Standard requirements in science education. Furthermore, more than 44,000 people utilize its public programs, including environmental camps, group tours, and intracoastal adventures, annually.
